LLOYDS RATING APPEAL SUCCESS AT VALUATION TRIBUNAL
Iain Henderson of Carigiet Cowen has been acting on behalf of Lloyd Motors in relation to an outstanding non-domestic rating appeal on their car showroom and premises at Rosehill Industrial Estate in Carlisle, which is an approved dealership for Land Rover, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. Mr Henderson has been challenging the Valuation Office Agency’s 2010 list valuation of £262,500 with effect from 1 April 2010.
In the absence of an agreement with the Valuation Offices Agency, the rating appeal was referred to a Valuation Tribunal at a Hearing in Carlisle on 27 February 2014. At the Hearing, Mr Henderson sought a reduction to a rateable value of £230,000 with effect from 1 April 2010. After careful consideration of all the evidence, the Tribunal panel accepted the valuation of the appeal property provided by Mr Henderson, and issued an Order for the Valuation Officer to alter the Rating List within two weeks of the decision date.
Bryan Lloyd of Lloyd Motors is understood to be delighted with the outcome of this non domestic rating appeal initiative, with estimated business rates savings being just under £100,000 over the anticipated 7 years of the 2010 Rating List.
